    Pearl Fryar is a self-taught topiary artist and "accidental gardener" who challenged cultural stereotypes in his South Carolina community by creating a garden paradise in his own yard. Memphis Botanic Garden hosts Mr. Fryar on January 24th, in conjunction with the opening of the film "A Man Named Pearl" at the Malco's Ridgeway Theater.
