On Wednesdays in March, bring your brown bag lunch to the Dixon, and join director, Kevin Sharp, as he leads three Lunch and Learn tours, each focusing on a single work of art. While you munch on lunch, Kevin will do a 10-15 minute PowerPoint presentation to prepare you for your trip to the galleries. There, he will expound 10-15 minutes more in front of one of the three paintings he has selected from our special exhibition, Cassatt to Wyeth: American Masterworks from Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, a show he organized and a collections he once cared for. There's time for questions after that, or to dash back to work before your boss knows you're gone! With Museum admission. Members Free. Winegardener Auditorium. Kevin Sharp and Julie Novarese. Wednesday, March 26 Topic: By the Sea with Maurice Prendergast

    • ArtsMemphis logo

Known around the world for its blues and rock and roll, Memphis has a recognizable special vibe. ArtsMemphis exists to nurture this unique character and to magnify the city’s creative voice. We are a 45-year-old arts funding organization (the sixth largest in the United States), which provides annual operating and project support to 23 arts groups and administers some 150 additional grants on a year to year basis. The ArtsMemphis tagline is “your support matters” and indeed it does. As major fundraisers, grant-makers and arts promoters in the city, ArtsMemphis contributed more than $4 million to the Memphis arts community in 2007, and it is a fact that 95 cents of every dollar raised in our annual campaign is directed to our funded organizations. ArtsMemphis builds partnerships among artists, arts groups, donors, educators and culture lovers throughout the city and region. Recognizing that a lively arts scene has a major economic impact and is essential to the quality of life in Memphis, ArtsMemphis is encouraging the entire community to interact with the arts like never before. The current enhanced website with its expanded calendar of events has been introduced with that goal in mind.
