Dixon Director Kevin Sharp continues his Director's Cut film festival with three great features from the 1940's.

His selections from the 1930's, The Thin Man (1934), It Happened One Night (1934), and The Holiday (1938), examined serious Depression-era issues through the lens of sophisticated comedy. As hard times gave way to war-time in the 1940s, America's social concerns changed and so did its appetite for popular entertainment. Kevin's favorite films of the 1940s focus on themes of individual responsibility, and how one person can make a difference.

He will offer a brief introduction to each film before screening. To Have and Have Not, 1944 Starring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Walter Brennen, and Hoagy Carmichael Directed by Howard Hawks An Ernest Hemingway novel, a William Faulkner screenplay, Bogey, Bacall, Hoagy--its enough to make you whistle! 100 minutes
