    Sixty years ago, choreographer, composer, scenic and costume designer Alwin Nikolais became modern dance's pioneer of multimedia, utilizing all aspects of the open stage to appeal to and entertain with a multi-sensory impact. Renowned for his clever use of space, elaborate costumes, complex sound and sets, Nikolais left his imprint on every theatrical medium, from Broadway to television, finally housing all of his works with the esteemed Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company.
