    Art Show Opening

    Jack Robinson Gallery

    Opening July 25 , 2008 6-9pm

    Mary Catherine Floyd

    Metal Museum Artist in Residence

Mary Catherine Floyd has come to Memphis by way of her hometown, Raleigh, NC and Bucyrus, Missouri. It was Mary Catherine's time in Missouri under the direction of Charlie and Marian McKinney that introduced her to metalworking and the Metal Museum community. Prior to working for the McKinneys, she completed a BFA at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, concentrating in fibers arts. Mary Catherine's focus as a resident artist is the marriage of her knowledge and personal experiences in metal and fiber arts.

    Jeannie Tomlinson Saltmarsh

    Metal Museum Artist in Residence

Jeannie Tomlinson Saltmarsh is a Memphis native. As the daughter of an architect, her interest and love of the arts began at an early age. A University of Memphis graduate, she also attended the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, as well as courses in blacksmithing, welding and metal casting. She discovered the Metal Museum and, like many, desired to spend more time there. With hard work and determination, that desire is now a reality in the Artist in Residence Program. She has experience in both the smithy and the foundry and has plans to grow, create and play in both.

    Steven Cuzzilla
    Metal Museum Intern

Originally from Eldorado Arkansas, Cuzzilla graduated from the Memphis College of Art in 2004. He works as a blacksmith at the Metal Museum. His training has given him strong roots in craftsmanship, design, and integrity. From these he has evolved an aesthetic whose foundation is built simply upon the idea that we are responsible for the things we create. He views blacksmithing as a historical connection to those who came before him, and a history for those who will follow. The process of forging is a place where the planes of tangibility and imagination may be distinct and blurred. This 'in between' is creation.
