    Flora and Fauna: Intermediate Blacksmithing

    Flora and Fauna is an intermediate blacksmithing class to be offered September 5-7, 2008. The projects slated for this class are designed to inspire novice to advanced level blacksmiths by presenting traditional blacksmithing techniques and then encouraging students to use those techniques in non-traditional ways. Students will make flowers, leaves and animals using sheet steel chisels as well as the coal forge and several stumps. The class will be instructed by Holly Fisher, the founder and artistic director of the Smartshop Metal Arts Collective in Kalamazoo Michigan. Tuition will be $280. Prerequisite: Basic Blacksmithing I and II. Students must provide their own safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves.
