ARTSmemphis Doubles Grant Distribution Total to Fund 32 Nonprofit Arts Programs and Events in West Tennessee

MEMPHIS—ARTSmemphis, the Mid-South’s primary arts funder, has announced the distribution of $91,080 through its Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant program to 32 nonprofit organizations in West Tennessee.

Arts Build Communities, in partnership with the Tennessee Arts Commission, directly supports arts projects that broaden access to arts experiences and enhance the sustainability of asset-based cultural enterprises.

This year’s ABC total grant distribution represents a 50% funding increase from last year’s amount thanks to the generosity of the Tennessee Arts Commission, who selects ARTSmemphis annually as its designated West Tennessee partner for arts funding in the region.

“As a result of intentional, proactive outreach to the nonprofit community, we are proud to have not only grown the number of ABC grant recipients this year but also increased the maximum gift from $3,500 per organization to $5,000,” said Elizabeth Rouse, President & CEO of ARTSmemphis.

Grant recipients are not required to be solely arts-focused in mission and are awarded funding for arts programs that furthers their mission. For example, Methodist Healthcare Foundation received funding for MusicRx, a program in partnership with Creative Aging that promotes health and healing through musical arts at Methodist Healthcare. For arts-based organizations, the ABC grant is an introduction to ARTSmemphis’ pipeline of grantmaking opportunities.

“The ABC grant is the perfect entry point for organizations to understand our approach to grantmaking, and our goal is to begin a relationship that only grows in depth and reach,” continued Rouse.

ABC-funded programs, listed below, will be featured throughout the year on ARTSmemphis’ channels and new events calendar. For more information, visit artsmemphis.org.
