ARTSmemphis Promotes Senior Director of Development, Grows Team with New Open Position

MEMPHIS—ARTSmemphis, the Mid-South’s primary arts funder, is pleased to announce that Colleen Chandler has been named Senior Director of Development for the organization.

Chandler joined ARTSmemphis seven years ago and has held several roles related to both operations and grantmaking. She became Development Manager in 2021 and has been responsible for database management, grant writing, institutional giving, and ARTSmemphis’ intern program.

“Colleen is deeply passionate about the role of the arts in our community, is well connected and respected throughout the nonprofit sector, and has transformed the functions of our development department,” said Elizabeth Rouse, President & CEO of ARTSmemphis. “I have complete confidence in Colleen and her leadership skills in helping our organization continue to grow.”

Chandler is a graduate of Texas Tech, holds a Master of Arts from the University of Memphis and a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies. She is a graduate of Momentum Nonprofit Partners' LEAD UP program in partnership with Christian Brothers University and a 20 Under 30 Honoree. She earned the Certified Fund Raising Executive certification in 2023.

As Senior Director of Development, Chandler will be responsible for fundraising strategies and leading a team charged with raising $3M+ annually. This position leads the staff Development Team, which includes the Director of Donor Engagement & Communications and the newly-formed Development & Operations Coordinator, a position now open, in implementing ARTSmemphis’ strategies to generate arts support.

“I’m thrilled to continue serving ARTSmemphis and the arts sector as a whole in this position,” said Chandler. “We have entered a very promising year for our arts & culture community, and I look forward to leading ARTSmemphis’ role in sustaining its future.”
